The great thing about feminism is that as a female, I can weigh in without being told my experience doesn’t qualify me to be able to speak. The experience of my gender entitles me to have an opinion. There obviously has to be acceptance of the fact while I as a woman may not be offended by Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”, there are plenty of those who are. But other feminists can’t simply then tell me that I don’t care about women’s empowerment, because the reality is that among us, there is such wide breadth of interpretation as to what the parameters of empowerment are. After all, feminism should be about freedom of individual expression, not collective standardisation.
